The power of IO-Link solutions in industrial automation

In the ever-evolving landscape of industrial automation, design engineers, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and machine builders face a multitude of challenges. From optimising production processes to improving manufacturing efficiency, staying ahead of technology trends while managing costs is crucial. One technology that has been gaining significant traction in addressing these challenges is IO-Link.

What is IO-Link?
IO-Link is a global industrial communications networking standard (IEC 61131-9) used for connecting digital sensors and actuators at the field level to
control-level systems (such as PLCs). It is a bi-directional, point-to-point communication protocol that allows devices to exchange data with a control system and/or IT-level application, providing
detailed device diagnostics and enabling efficient parameter adjustments.

This technology simplifies connectivity and enhances data availability, which leads to improved system diagnostics, increased efficiency, and reduced costs.
An IO-Link system consists of an IO-Link master, an IO-Link device (sensor or actuator) and an IODD (IO device description) file.
