Mitsubishi Electric adds EtherCAT connection to FR-E800 series

Mitsubishi Electric has further enhanced its E800 series variable speed drive (VSD) with the introduction of a dedicated EtherCAT model.

The FR-800 series is built upon Mitsubishi Electris’s VSD technology, which delivers reliable operation across constant and variable torque applications.

It combines a compact footprint with a dual overload rating and predictive maintenance capabilities to offer a safe, efficient and robust multi-purpose inverter.

The new addition to the range incorporates the inherent functionality of the FR-E800 series, including a built-in PLC function, inverter-to-inverter link function and corrosive gas detection circuits, with a dedicated EtherCAT connection point without the need for an option card.

This offers machine builders wishing to use an FR-E800 VSD an additional communication protocol, alongside the current built-in EtherNet protocols available throughout the series without the need for an option card. These include PROFINET, MODBUS/TCP, BACnet/IP, CC-Link IE Field Basic and CC-Link IE TSN.
