Bigger is not always better. This is especially true with the miniaturisation trend in machine design: think of handheld vacuum cleaners, espresso machines, desktop 3D printers, and robots. However, small, confined spaces in machines can pose various problems for designers. Challenges such as limited visibility and accessibility can make it difficult to inspect, maintain, or repair the components inside applications.
In today’s engineering and manufacturing world, the phrase "good things come in small packages" has never been more apt, as designers seek out small, well-engineered components that work perfectly.
Linear guides are historically bulky products, but in many applications, space is at an increasing premium.
