Efficient motors use less energy, and cost less to run. ABB’s IE5 SynRM liquid-cooled motors provide best-in-class efficiency. The motors’ high power density means great performance
in compact designs. The motors are also easy to integrate into existing systems, even with limited space.

The SynRM uses a magnet-free rotor design to deliver
IE5 efficiency and excellent reliability. This reduces the total cost of ownership (TCO) through lower energy, operating and maintenance costs, while lower emissions help to contribute towards
sustainability targets. The special rotor design has practically no energy losses, helping to achieve high efficiencies across the whole speed range, even at partial loads and
lower speeds.

Energy costs account for around 97 percent of a motor’s TCO, while the purchase cost typically accounts for about two percent.
