The Government’s ‘Taking charge: the electric vehicle infrastructure strategy’, published in March 2022, promised that every motorway service area will have “at least six rapid chargers by the end of 2023, with some having more than 12”.
However, at the start of 2024, it was reported by the RAC that just 46 (39 percent) of 119 motorway services reviewed have the target number of chargers above 50kW in place. As a result, the need for innovation in the EV charging space has never been more critical.
