Your favourite stories of 2023: A round-up

Happy New Year! 2023 marked a momentous year for the engineering community and, by extension, for the world at large. It witnessed artificial intelligence taking centre stage, with the development of ChatGPT and the world's first AI Safety Summit. Against the backdrop of COP28, sustainability continued to shoot to the top of every manufacturer's agenda as the effects of climate change became ever more evident globally.

We also saw the return to CE marking, awe-inspiring images from the James Webb Space Telescope, widespread discussions about HS2, and the trend of reshoring as a solution to supply chain instability take hold – among a whole host of other issues, trends, and innovations.

With so much taking place within the manufacturing industry and beyond, we recognise that it can be difficult to keep track of all the intricacies of industry shifts, policy decisions, and technological breakthroughs that have shaped the past year.

With this in mind, we at DPA have curated our most-read news stories, industry insights and products, to help you take stock of our industry's most noteworthy achievements and lessons as we transition into a new year.
