A step up for medical innovation

A stepper motor enables the accurate, precise and repetitive positioning that contributes so much to stable and efficient machinery operation, but no more so than in medical equipment applications.

In such applications, designers naturally lean towards stepper motors that prioritise precision, reliability, and efficiency, without the need for feedback from external sensors. The performance of even the best stepper motor, however, is dependent on the features of the driver that controls it.

Engineers at motion control specialist Sanyo Denki (represented in the UK by EAO Ltd) have developed a stepper motor system that is ideally suited to medical equipment applications. The system – comprising the stepper motor and the driver and complemented by proprietary PC driver software – provides a broad range of operating functions that designers need for medical equipment applications, including pulse input mode, resolution, low vibration mode, operating current, step angle and current at rest.
