Sustainability challenges: What’s hindering manufacturers’ transition?

Prominent industrial organisations are establishing bold environmental sustainability targets. A study by Schneider Electric and Omdia indicates that over half (57 percent) of top global industrial organisations have committed to carbon-neutrality targets to offset their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, with just under half (47 percent) undertaking RE100 commitments.

This signifies their dedication to obtaining energy from renewable sources. Meanwhile, 36 percent have set science-backed objectives designed to help limit global warming within the 1.5-2°C threshold.

Setting these goals is a crucial first step. What matters, however, is implementing the sustainability initiatives capable of delivering them.

The research shows that several barriers block the deployment and success of industrial companies’ environmental sustainability projects, from infrastructure to culture. So, let’s explore these roadblocks, and how organisations can safely navigate them to help protect our planet.
