Brushless dc motor with integral speed control electronics

Mclennan Servo Supplies has released a new miniature brushless dc motor with integral drive electronics for precision speed control from Netherlands motor manufacturer Allied Motion/Premotec. Measuring just 32mm diameter with a nominal length of 42mm, the compact BL30 EB delivers an output torque of 30 mNm at 3500 rpm with an 11 W power output rating. The motor’s outer rotor design ensures minimal cogging and a high-load bearing system and IP54 protection sealing makes it an ideal choice for small pumps, laser scanning heads, fans, medical devices and other applications where compact design, long life and high performance is essential.

The BL30 EB includes an integrated speed control loop with a speed-set input to adjust the motor speed from 200 to 5000 rpm. Available in CW and CCW variants with 12Vdc or 24Vdc supply, a two-wire version operates from a simple dc voltage and the four-wire alternative includes an 18 pulse per rev tachometer output for speed monitoring. The motor fully complies with EN 55014 for EMC and protection is included for reverse supply voltage and thermal overload with automatic recovery.

The BL30 EB is supplied with a 4mm diameter x 12.5mm long output shaft as standard with front- face spigot mounting with M3 fixing holes. Customised versions are available with special shaft modifications, alternate flange mounting, custom leads and connector configurations, as well as rear mounted encoders and gearbox options.

As with all motion control components and equipment supplied by Mclennan, the BL30 EB is available for evaluation from stock to ensure a fast delivery turnaround. The leading mechatronic specialist is also able to offer customised rotary and linear positioning assemblies based around the new motor using its own design, manufacturing and distribution capability.
