A winning formula: DPA’s April 2023 issue is here!

It's finally starting to feel like spring: the flowers are blooming, the birds are singing, the sun is shining (well, sometimes), and DPA's April issue is here!

Now available both in print and online, this month's issue covers the key topics of Linear Motion, Fasteners & Adhesives, Test & Measurement, and a special supplement on Sustainability.

A deadly threat is coming for us. First, it will take over the internet. Next, it will take over schools, universities, and workplaces. And then, before you know it, it will mark the end of humanity as we know it. ChatGPT is here. Welcome to the end times. In this month’s column, Editor Sophia Bell explains the phenomenon of ChatGPT and what it really means for the future of industry (pg. 4).

Valtteri Bottas currently holds the record for the highest speed in a Formula 1 race, hitting 231.4mph in the 2016 Mexican Grand Prix. But what may seem like a fluke requires intensive testing before racers hit the track. In our cover story, Mantracourt discusses the challenges that motor teams face and how remote monitoring technology can help optimise a car for racing (pg. 22)

Meanwhile, despite what you might have heard, sustainability doesn’t have to come at a cost. The enormous increase in energy costs has focused everyone’s minds on their energy bills. However, in the manufacturing industry, an intelligent redesign of the final product can yield savings for both the manufacturer and customer. Turck Banner has identified areas where companies can cut costs, whilst becoming more sustainable (pg. 32).

Other key features to look out for include:
• Designing the world's largest test system for wind turbines (pg. 26)
• Linear motion: Ask the expert (pg. 8)
• Video of the Month: Sustainability in modern manufacturing (pg. 37)
• Hidden benefits: The heat treatment industry (pg. 34)
• Learning and development in the adhesives industry (pg. 12)
