ChatGPT: Friend or foe?

A deadly threat is coming for us. First, it will take over the internet. Next, it will take over schools, universities, and workplaces. And then, before you know it, it will mark the end of humanity as we know it. ChatGPT is here. Welcome to the end times.

Or at least, that’s what some news outlets would have you believe. 

If you’ve been keeping an eye on headlines over the last few months, you’ve probably heard of ChatGPT: the new AI-powered chatbot. At its most basic level, this technology is a machine learning model that can answer queries by mimicking natural human conversation.

This is nothing new. In fact, this kind of technology has been around for decades. But what marks out ChatGPT as different is the fact that it has the entire World Wide Web at its disposal, giving it access to unprecedented amounts of data. That and the fact that, unlike its predecessors which required specialist equipment, it is available for public use.

The news stories that are constantly being churned out about the capabilities of this technology are quite astonishing.
