Capacitive sensor line for proximity and level detection applications

Balluff is introducing a new capacitive sensor line for proximity and level detection applications. With over 250 models to choose from, it is one of the most extensive capacitive sensor lines available. This expansion offers a wide variety of body styles, sensing ranges, harsh environmental ratings and advanced functionality.

The level-control capacitive sensors can detect solids or liquids through the walls of non-metallic containers, without direct contact to the target material. Advanced versions can reliably detect true liquid levels whilst ignoring false signals resulting from foaming, material build-up, clumping solids, or film-forming liquids inside (or outside) the container. Balluff’s capacitive proximity sensors can detect metallic or non-metallic targets at distances up to 25mm, independently of colour or surface texture.

Standard housing materials include PVC, PBT, POM, and stainless steel. Advanced housing materials such as PTFE and polypropylene are available to prevent premature sensor disintegration from exposure to harsh chemical agents.

Special application types include level and proximity sensors for high temperature environments (up to 480ºF), miniature sensors (as small as Ø4mm) with remote adjustment for confined spaces and accurate part detection, or sensors with IP69K rating for wash down applications and heavy duty environments, as well as sensors for leak detection in chemical or pharmaceutical equipment.
