Oldham couplings: An ideal choice for actuator-driven systems

Couplings are a critical part of system performance in high-tech applications such as linear motion systems, yet they are often one of the last components to be specified.

Selecting the proper coupling ensures the equipment will meet performance requirements and have a long, trouble-free life. Poor coupling selection
can lead to high maintenance costs, frequent downtime, and imprecise positioning.

One of the most commonly used components in precision servo
motor-driven systems is linear actuators. Ruland manufactures a wide range of oldham couplings to match the varied needs of actuators. Oldham
couplings are zero-backlash, have a balanced design, and have high parallel misalignment capabilities. In addition, the three-piece design allows designers easily
to couple an actuator and motor with keyed or keyless shafts with inch or metric bores.
