Transducers for high radiation and high temperature environments

Extreme environments do not come much harsher than nuclear radiation, high temperature or high pressure, but RDP Electronics has a range of proven non-contact displacement transducers that can stand up to the challenge.

Widely used in the nuclear industry - in turbines, high pressure testing chambers such as autoclaves and in research laboratories - RDP’s PY series deliver high accuracy by measuring the distance between the transducers front face and the target. The non-contact variable reluctance principle works with any suitable material that can be targeted by a magnet. The PY comes in single or double coil versions. Options to measure gaps from a mere 1.5mm to 6mm are in the range and suitable for temperatures from -220ºC to +600ºC and radiation doses up to 1 M Gy.
