Overview launches new motor solution for biometric border control kiosks

The company, which is based in Woking, and which was recently awarded the Queen’s Award for Innovation, has used its expertise in designing motors with fine movement capability to produce a precision servo motor that allows for greater accuracy in border control kiosks.

Graham Jones, CEO at Overview, says: “The particular challenge for this application is to be able to manage facial recognition of people of different heights when standing in front of the kiosks. We have been able to develop accurate camera positioning sensor technologies that allow for a small vertical movement range of just 15°, while maintaining camera picture accuracy.”

Using its engineering and technical capabilities, Overview has developed a small, compact motor, based on its current standard Leto design. When combined with customer bespoke programming it allows the revised motor to operate with a narrow up and down tilt motion. Overview has already supplied motors to operational kiosks in the field.
