Three young people who plan to change the world

The James Dyson Award is designed to demonstrate the power of engineers to change the world and improve lives through technology. In 2021, the Award received a record number of entries worldwide and Sir James Dyson chose three winners for the first time, each receiving £30,000 to support the next stages of their inventions.

cause of blindness worldwide: in 2020, about 80 million people had glaucoma worldwide – expected to rise to over
111 million by 2040. After witnessing her dad’s diagnosis, Kelu Yu realised there’s a need for more accessible Intraocular
Pressure (IOP) monitoring – a critical tool in planning long-term treatment.
