To achieve this, the Wenden-based company developed a truly lightweight, low-noise, and low-dust cable carrier system that is ideal for the kind of clean room applications found in microchip and semiconductor production. QUANTUM has been designed without joints to ensure that no abrasion or wear is caused during operation by the connecting elements.

Conventional cable carriers feature jointed links that form polygons in curved sections due to their pitch: during operation, this effect can cause vibration, wear, and – naturally – noise. QUANTUM’s design avoids this “polygon effect” entirely: depending on the form factor, its pitch can be over 50
percent smaller than in comparable link chains. Curved sections are near-perfect curves that avoid vibrations that could cause wear in the upper run. This smooth-running operation is achieved by the one-part side band, whose reduced noise emissions of just 31 dB(A) also make QUANTUM one of the quietest cable carrier systems on the market.

The QUANTUM cable carrier system also features many other clever design details, such as separate stay systems that can be opened both inwards and outwards, with variable widths and a wide range of options for height separation, as well as strain reliefs, and length connectors are important
elements of this intelligent and flexible cable routing. The driver connection can also be moved laterally and rotated by up to +/-30°. The system also facilitates a degree of 3D motion, so there is no need for extra carriers to handle moderate multi-axis movement. A high load capacity as well as superior functional reliability and durability is also assured by quality materials such as aluminium and technical plastics for the stays, plus extruded steel cables in the profile support floor. The system is designed for acceleration of up to 300 m/s2 and operating speeds of up to 40 m/s.

“From extensive testing
and experience in the field, we know that our aluminum stays significantly reduce wear on cables while increasing their service life,” comments Thomas Ameis, Senior Technical Expert at KABELSCHLEPP Metool. QUANTUM is not only UV-stable but also has excellent resistance to both coolants and lubricants. The system is ideally suited to applications in the clean room, microchip assembly, and semiconductor applications, but is also deployed together with handling/assembly systems, robots and instruments, and in pick-and-place, printing, and textile machinery. Users can choose from four form factors to match their specific application.

Pacesetter for digitalisation: cable carriers from KABELSCHLEPP Metool

Digitalisation changes
the way we live and work – from digital whiteboards in schools to networked product environments. However, for machines to communicate with each other and robots to take over tasks, they always need a lifeline for power supply and the exchange of data and signals. This is where the KABELSCHLEPP Metool cable carriers come into play: They protect and guide the indispensable cables – cable spaghetti and communication problems cannot occur in the first place. The focus here is always on customer benefit. The digital tools from KABELSCHLEPP Metool also ensure this: Whether OnlineEngineer or Quickfinder, the intuitive online tools facilitate orientation in the extensive product portfolio.
