Intrinsically safe dew point transmitter for CNG applications

Michell Instruments’ new Easidew TX IS dew point transmitter can be connected in a 2-Wire loop powered or 3-Wire configuration. It features a white HDPE sinter guard, providing particulate protection to less than 10 micron (impermeable to liquids) plus a visual indication of sensor contamination. The transmitter is ATEX and FM certified for use in hazardous areas, the certification listing five different galvanic isolators for maximum installation flexibility.

Features include powerful onboard processing capability allowing, for the first time, internal calculation of ppm(v) moisture content in selectable ranges from 0 to 3,000ppm. Application software is available to configure output parameters, ranges and scaling.

Michell Instruments’ ceramic moisture sensor and microprocessor-based measurement circuit combination provides a fully calibrated and interchangeable sensor transmitter. All calibration data is stored within the transmitter’s memory, enabling calibration exchange or servicing to be carried out in seconds, even by untrained personnel. The Easidew TX IS is simply disconnected, removed from its sampling block and replaced by a new, fully calibrated unit.

Specific applications include measurement of dew point or moisture content in CNG (compressed natural gas) dryers, hydrogen coolant in power stations, industrial/hazardous gas manufacture and supply, and many more.
