Automation in the post-covid landscape podcast

In this Oriental Motor (UK) podcast, Paul Jepson looks ahead to life ‘after covid’ and how the last 15 months have affected the automation industry.

This podcast looks ahead to the inevitable changes brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic. Oriental Motor (UK)’s Paul Jepson reflects on what we have missed – from the entertainment industry, travel, hospitality – and looks at how these sectors have suffered or altered as our lives and habits have had to adapt. In doing so, co-hosts Nicole Piesse-Turner and Caroline Hayes learn even more uses for motors used ‘invisibly’ in theatres, museums and theme parks, as well as in gaming machines, aeroplanes, ferries and cruise ships.

Another change has been discovering cooking at home as restaurants close and here AC induction motors, and brushless DC motors have played a role in food production and packaging.

Behind the headlines of pharmaceutical successes, Paul also explains the boom in brushless DC motors and the servo and stepper motors and actuators used in research laboratories.

The podcast closes on an optimistic note, as Paul assesses the manufacturing industry’s resilience and how the pandemic may have accelerated automation to optimise productivity and maximise staff safety and comfort.

The podcast will appeal to more experienced engineers, who will be introduced to new application areas and real-life use cases as well as students and those taking their first steps in the motor and drive industry.

The Oriental Motor podcasts are designed to entertain and inform engineers in an easily accessible format. At its core is a deep knowledge of the automation industry and expertise in design and customer support for a broad and varied customer base.
