igus UK has published details of its new polymer bearing material for
underwater applications, iglidur UW. A direct replacement for standard
graphite or carbon, iglidur UW500 plastic plain bearing material has been
tested under laboratory conditions in pumping applications, and the
results of these test are now available. Moreover, this material is
capable of running for long periods at temperatures as high as 250°C
(315°C for short periods).
