Encoders: it's 'plug & play' with Profibus
Thanks to their integral Profibus DP interfaces, IFM Electronic's new RMU
and RMV absolute shaft encoders are ready for use once connected to the
fieldbus and the slave address set. Suitable for both positioning and
speed detection, RMU encoders have a synchro-type flange, while the RMV's
flange is designed for clamp-mounting. Both offer compact dimensions and
IP64 protection. The maximum resolution is 25 bits and encoder output can
be scaled from within the unit. User-programmable features include preset
values, limit switch functions and running indication, Both encoders can
be programmed to count up with either direction of rotation, so the zero
point corresponds to any required shaft position.
