600 MHz Industrial PCs

Economy, flexibility and dependability are the key features of the new 600 MHz industrial PCs (IPCs) that Omron Electronics has now added to its exceptional DyaloX IPC range. Like all DyaloX IPCs, the new models have been specifically designed to deliver maximum reliability. The hardware is constructed from the highest grade industrial components throughout, and potential sources of failure, such as moving parts, have been eliminated.

In addition, Omron offers a three-year warranty on the DyaloX IPCs, plus a minimum five-year availability of the same product, and also guarantees that repairs can be made to the product for up to seven years from their date of purchase.

The new 600 MHz DyaloX IPCs are ideal for running a wide range of basic applications and offer numerous options for expansion. Available in either a 12-inch or a 15-inch touch screen display version, all models incorporate Omron’s unique RAS (reliability, availability and service) concept that continually monitors and logs the status of the IPC.

Since the RAS board operates independently of the rest of the hardware, it can continue to operate irrespective of the condition of the hardware or operating system.

The RAS board works in conjunction with the RAS software utility and can, for example, be configured to notify the user when unstable hardware or software conditions are detected. It can also be arranged to take action automatically to resolve errors and, since it provides a detailed record of system status, it makes the investigation of problems straightforward.

To maximise reliability, DyaloX IPCs use solid-state storage modules instead of conventional disk drives. In addition to exceptional ruggedness, these modules offer fast access times. The DyaloX range also features advanced passive heatsinks rather than failure-prone cooling fans.

Expansion and connectivity options provided by the new models include two Ethernet ports and a single PCI slot, two rear-mounted USB ports and two IP65-protected front panel USB ports.

Memory ranges from 256 MB up to 1 GB of RAM and, in addition to ultra-reliable solid state storage, the DyaloX IPCs can also be equipped with conventional hard-disk drives. All models are supplied with the extended version of Windows XP on a 2, 4 or 8 GB CF memory card.

To complete HMI functionality on the DyaloX IPCs, Omron offers CX-Supervisor, an open software package purpose-designed for machine visualisation.

Omron’s new 600 MHz DyaloX IPCs complement the existing 1.3 GHz models, which are available in box and panel versions with 12-inch to 17-inch touch screens.
