EC7BW18-72 DC-DC converters have ultra-wide input range for transportation

Cincon's versatile 20Wt DC-DC converters have an ultra-wide input range and are ideal for railway applications, automotive and energy-critical systems. Available now from Relec Electronics.

With an ultra-wide input range of 8.5 to 160Vdc, the EC7BW18-72 board-mount, 20-Watt DC-DC converter series consists of models for all common battery voltages, from a single 12V battery (typically found in automotive vehicles) up to 110V systems (i.e. electric mainline trains).

The DC-DC converters have an ultra-wide (18:1) input voltage range of 8.5 to 160Vdc (72Vdc nominal) and 3000Vac reinforced input to output isolation.

The EC7BW18-72 DC-DC converter series delivers 20W at output voltages ranging from 5-24Vdc. The 20W DC-DC converters have an 18:1 input voltage range of 8.5 to 160Vdc (72Vdc nominal) and 3000Vac reinforced input to output isolation. This wide input range means the DC-DC converters meet the requirements of RIA12 Surge A on 24V and 52V systems (3.5 x Vi nom 20mS).

Ambient operating temperature range is -40°C to +105°C, making the DC-DC converters suitable for use in a wide range of environments (an optional heat sink is available to extend the full power range).

Efficiency is up to 90% and the DC-DC converters have a very low no-load power consumption of 8mA, making them an ideal solution for energy-critical systems.

All converters are certified to EN50155, EN45545, EN50121-3-2, for railway applications. They offer a “one size fits all” solution for diesel sprinters (24V), London Underground (52V), freight locos (72V) and electric mainline (110V) trains.

The EC7BW18-72 series is also suitable for distributed power architectures, telecommunications, battery-operated equipment, and industrial applications.

The EC7BW18-72S05 (5V ouput), EC7BW18-72S12 (12V), EC7BW18-72S15 (15V), EC7BW18-72D12 (±12V), EC7BW18-72D15 (±15) and EC7BW18-72D24 (±24V) are housed in an industry standard 2” x 1” x 0.4” (50mm x 25mm x 10mm) package.

In addition to remote on/off and +15%, -20% adjustable output voltage (for the single output only), the units have under-voltage lockout (UVLO), output over-current, output over-voltage, and over-temperature and continuous short circuit protection.

The EC7BW is available to sample now with production lead-times currently 6-8 weeks.

The technical team at Relec are available now to guide you through the design-in process, provide samples, and provide commercial support right through into production.
