The aim is to provide an autonomous and agile robotic solution that can spray disinfectant to minimise human exposure to the virus and efficiently clean surfaces.

In practice, the Spot robot with Shark’s purpose-built disinfection payload can decontaminate up to
2,000 m² in 15 minutes, in any space that needs to be sanitised – such as hospitals, metro stations, offices, warehouses or facilities. The sanitising operations can be done autonomously or remotely controlled. The payload consists of a five-litre tank and
12 micro-spraying nozzles for disinfectant solutions. This system allows a 360° diffusion. Spot’s unique mobility enables the robot to decontaminate many types of surfaces without leaving traces on the ground. Unlike most sanitising robots, Spot can navigate complex environments with steps,
stairs and uneven floors, and avoid obstacles with great reliability and consistent quality.

“It is very exciting to work with a company as prestigious as Boston Dynamics. We share the same objectives: innovate and offer efficient robotics solutions to help humans,”
said Cyril Kabbara, COO and co-founder of Shark Robotics. “With a complementary approach, Boston Dynamics and Shark Robotics provide an efficient and highly mobile disinfection solution able to fight COVID-19 in all kinds of environments.”
