The New TM-Series from Oriental Motor comprises a torque motor with a power controller. The torque adjustment of the new TM-Series is realised by changing the voltage applied to the motor; with the series itself being ideal for winding applications.
The main design criteria when developing the power controller unit was the user-friendliness. The torque setting is achieved by potentiometer or an external dc voltage of 5 or 10 Vdc. Using the potentiometer, the user can adjust the slight variations between the set torque and the actual torque output of the motor. This fine-tuning function realises the adjustment in applications of multiple motor-operated machines. Compared to conventional models, the accuracy of the set torque is improved considerably.
The distance between motor and power controller can be up to 20m, guaranteeing flexible usage in various applications. For easy wiring, the design of the power controller provides separate terminals for power supply and control signal. The controller can be mounted directly to a DIN rail. The TM-Series is available with four output power types between 3 and 20 W, including geared versions with standard gear or linear gearhead. The product supports the power supply voltages used in major countries worldwide, is RoHS-compliant, and marked with UL and CE.
Due to their special characteristics, torque motors are ideal for winding applications operating with constant speed and tension. The braking force of a torque motor can be used to tension the material as it is wound to remove slacks. Since a torque motor provides stable torque in a locked state or near-locked operation at low speed, it is suitable for applications where screws etc. are tightened.
