Miniature slide for high loads
Among a number of new linear motion products launched by INA at this
year's Hanover Fair is the novel KUME linear ball bearing and guideway
assembly. Despite its small size, the product boasts four ball
recirculation channels in two-point contact, giving almost negligible
sliding friction and very smooth running. The Size 7 system has balls of
just 1mm diameter running in plastic elements, which are fixed securely
to the saddle plate. This configuration allows the osculation to be set
at a narrower level, providing a high load capacity relative to the size
of the slide, plus high rigidity. The 'O' arrangement of the circulation
channels, moreover, permits high moment loads about the product's
longitudinal axis. In some cases, this allows a system with two guideways
to be replaced with just one KUME unit.
