STOBER’s drive to make more mobile ventilators in coronavirus crisis

Collaborating with FF Maschinen GmbH, STOBER has supplied components for use in the production of manually operated mobile ventilators in the battle against coronavirus.

In response to the increased demand for ventilators, Felix Theurer, Managing Director of FF Maschinen, decided to expand the capability of mobile ventilators in such a way that they can also be used for patients with coronavirus-related breathing difficulties. 

In order to create a reliably functioning prototype from a concept developed with various doctors and intensive care physicians, Theurer turned to special machine manufacturer SOGA Gallenbach. SOGA is a long standing-customer and close partner of STOBER, who immediately agreed to support this initiative.

Together with NAST Automation, the students of FF Maschinen developed the technical implementation.

In just seven days, they created an easy-to-operate ventilator device that uses STOBER’s EZ302 synchronous servo motor in combination with a SC6A062 drive controller, which enables the ventilators to ‘breathe’. It meets all required ventilation modes and operates stably.
