A laser inspection solution for automated shoe sole gluing

Gluing the soles is a key part of the shoe manufacturing process. However, performing this manually is inefficient and produces inconsistent results. A Chinese high-tech robotics company turned to 3D laser inspection experts SmartRay to help them deliver a flexible, automated solution for their clients.

Based in China, Shenzhen Qixuan Automation Technology Co., Ltd. is a high-tech company specialising in robot 3D vision and integrated industrial automation solutions. The company
focuses on efficient and complex visual inspection projects, robot 3D guidance and robot disorder sorting. 

One of its clients is a major shoe manufacturer producing footwear
in a wide range of shapes, sizes and styles. This client was looking for a way to improve its manufacturing process, particularly to improve the
efficiency and quality of its sole gluing.

Fumes from the manual glue spraying process can also be harmful to people, so the client wanted a flexible,
automated solution that could operate effectively for its entire range of shoe types while reducing the risk to its personnel.
