Southern Manufacturing & Electronics 2020 on course for the record books

Southern Manufacturing & Electronics returns to Farnborough from February 11-13, 2020. The exhibition, which is the longest running annual engineering exhibition in the UK, is expected to completely fill the 20,000m² Farnborough International Exhibition Centre and the organisers are confident of topping the record-breaking 9,000 visitors to the show in 2019.

The show is an important event in the calendar for a number of reasons. Firstly, as the biggest and longest-running annual electronics and engineering show in the south, it is the easiest accessible event for those firms operating in the most powerful economic region in the UK; firms which include almost a quarter of the UK’s £32bn aerospace industry, not
to mention a significant number of important offshore aerospace players that are reliant on the UK supply chain. Secondly, the size of the show means that it is heavily supported by the major machinery and production technology manufacturers, making it an excellent place to see all the latest hardware under one roof. Thirdly, it’s location at the epicentre of the UK
aerospace industry means that leading-edge technologies such as 3D printing, composites and other advanced manufacturing techniques are a key element of the show. Finally, its inclusive format encourages participation by a wide range of companies large and small, creating a diversity and appeal that is arguably unmatched by any other UK event.

As in previous years, the 2020 event will
host a broad exhibitor list spanning the complete range of engineering activity, from high-tech machine tools and automation to components and subcontract services. Firms from all over the UK will be participating, together with a significant number of off-shore exhibitors from across Europe, Asia and the Far East. Following last year’s successful cooperation, Southern Manufacturing & Electronics 2020 will once more
be partnering with the Farnborough Aerospace Consortium, alongside national bodies including Composites UK, NetComposites, the Confederation of British Metalforming, the GTMA and the British Gear Association. Also taking part this year is Locate in Kent, an organisation offering a wide range of services and assistance to firms looking to locate in the region.
