Even as machinery and equipment have become more complex and sophisticated in recent years, still the essence of “safe operation” remains largely unchanged and therefore the most basic solutions to ensure safe operation are also largely unchanged.

The Machinery Safety Directive EN ISO 13849-1 places an obligation on both machinery designer and operator to ensure that equipment is fitted with adequate safeguards to protect machine operators, and any other staff working in the vicinity of such production machinery, from accidental injury.

Safety in the workplace – typical applications

Providing a safe working environment in a manufacturing site is not just about protecting staff from the dangers of rotating equipment, providing safe walkways to prevent accidents involving fork lift trucks or making sure noise levels are acceptable.
