Huntsman's smartLite range of thermoplastic polyurethanes was originally
developed for the footwear industry. Now re-engineered for a wider range
of applications, the material is up to 40% lighter than rubber but can
improve the flexibility, durability, soft-touch and grip of
high-performance elastomeric products. The material is suitable for
injection moulding, where it can be combined with other materials, and
requires neither primer nor post-treatment. It is highly recyclable;
waste and reject mouldings can be re-granulated and used again with
virgin material.
