The Italian company, Polytec is using Vantico's Araldite 4910 A/B to bond
the light housing support, measuring 170cm in length, to the body of the
Fiat Multipla. Generally used for primerless bonding of thermoset
materials such as SMC, in this application the adhesive is being used to
bond bulk moulding compound (BMC) thermoset components. The two-part,
fast-curing polyurethane adhesive was chosen for its rapid cure at room
temperature, which speeds up production. The 4910 A/B product is also
thixotropic, so it can be applied to vertical surfaces, as is the case
with the Multipla light housing.
