Following its appointment as UK distributor for ITW Fastex, Heyco has now
added a range of novel, problem-solving fasteners to its huge portfolio
of products. Among these is a two-stage nylon rivet (top left of
picture), which can be 'reset' by pushing the drive pin further into the
rivet body. The whole rivet can then be removed and reset for
re-installation. Shown top right is a two-piece sound isolator rivet
moulded in a soft thermoplastic elastomer, with nylon pin. No special
tools are required for installation - just gentle fingertip pressure.
A gentle hammer-blow is needed however, to tap the quarter-turn captive
panel latch into position (bottom right). The plunger of this one-piece
fastener is forced into the grommet to secure a removable panel to a
fixed structure. The plunger can be rotated through 90° to effect
removal, leaving the latching part in place ready for reuse. Meanwhile,
the Strike & Latch two-piece panel fastener (bottom left) comprises a
nylon body and spring steel latch. Both parts snap into place through the
front of their respective panels, the strikes requiring either a simple
1/8 turn or push-fit to lock securely into a square hole.
