The move to its new permanent venue last year proved to be a watershed in the show’s twenty year history and it enters its third decade reinvigorated by a surge in exhibitor demand and the foundation of important new alliances with several influential industrial organisations.

The show’s
home at the Farnborough International Exhibition and Conference Centre – one of the main venues for the Farnborough Airshow – is a focal point for the aerospace and allied sectors. Nearly a quarter of the UK’s 3,400 Aerospace companies and sizeable chunk of the UK’s automotive, medical technology,
marine and high-tech engineering businesses are to be found within a 50 mile radius of Farnborough. Not surprisingly, Southern Manufacturing & Electronics has itself developed a reputation as a showcase for design-led engineering, components and specialist engineering subcontractors, many of whom carry the AS9100 rating for aerospace
work.

For 2019, the show has formalised relationships with some key organisations to help develop these aspects of the show further. The involvement of the Farnborough Aerospace Consortium, Composites UK, the Society of Motor Manufacturers & Traders, the British Gear Association, the Gauge & Toolmakers Association and the
Confederation of British Metalforming has informed and enhanced development of new show features and expanded the curriculum of the show’s well-respected free technical seminar programme to include topics such as incremental sheet forming processes, automated mould design and large scale 3D printing.
