Has 2018 really been the Year of Engineering?

My editorial comment this month looks at the Government backed Year of Engineering campaign and its success over the last year.

Before we say goodbye to 2018, I want to focus on what a year it’s been – the Year of Engineering! If you didn’t know, this was the Government’s national campaign to increase awareness and understanding of what engineers do among young people aged 7-16, their parents and their teachers. Throughout the year, the campaign has encouraged young people from all backgrounds to take a closer look at engineering, challenge stereotypes and showcase the variety and creativity of this forward-looking and innovative sector. 

The question is, has it worked?
