Rutland Plastics, the Oakham based injection moulder, has always strived to be green and now has the certificate to prove it. It has just been successful in attaining the environmental management standard ISO14001.
This is the culmination of many months hard work led by Dominic Freckingham and assisted by Lee Hatton.
ISO14001 is an internationally recognised standard on environmental management. It covers all areas of an organisation and its impact on the environment; in short, the aim is to achieve cleaner production. A company should not only comply with current environmental regulations and standards, but also make a commitment to continuous improvement. This can include recycling, minimising waste and conserving energy. Periodic comprehensive audits are carried out to ensure continued compliance and meeting of specified goals.
“I’m grateful to all Rutland Plastics’ personnel for the enthusiasm and dedication they have shown in working towards this goal,” said Mike Ayre, Rutland Plastics’ managing director. “The award accreditation recognises Rutland Plastics’ commitment to green practices. The company has always tried to minimise its impact on the environment and this has now been recognised with the awarding of ISO14001 accreditation”.
The award heralds the start of an eventful year for the company. Rutland Plastics’ factory site has been redeveloped, and staff moved into a new office and employee block in mid-May. Later in the year, the production facility will be extended to house the largest moulding machines.
