LG Motion offer the world’s smallest stepper NEMA 11 motor package

Arcus Technology has developed the world’s smallest micro stepper motor drive, control and encoder package, the DMX-K-SA-11.

The NEMA 11 integrated stepper motor package comes in a very compact 28mm square housing with a length of just over 70mm in the triple stack version and can deliver 0.17Nm stall torque. The unit has been designed as “plug and play” for the most cost-effective installation and is offered with free intuitive multi-tasking motion programming and set-up software.

The 16 microstep driver delivers full 1/2, 1/4 or 1/16 microsteps in three stack sizes and is particularly suitable for applications that require a position verification signal from the motor. Traditional stepper motor drives usually have to be combined with sensors to detect position values after the move.

Position control is made simple with BASIC-like programming language in combination with an integrated 256 line incremental encoder. An absolute encoder is available as an upgrade. The drive is suitable for 12 to 24VDC operation with selectable current from 100mA to 1.5A.

Rugged and hard wearing the stepper motor comes with a two year warranty.

Typical applications

The compact size makes the unit ideal for any space restricted application requiring controllable motion with real-time position confirmation.

Scientific and research applications in laboratory automation, metrology, biomedical and photonics are just a few of the areas in which this stepper drive package can be used.

Basingstoke based LG Motion not only supplies Arcus Technology products but also designs and manufacturers a comprehensive range of motion control products.
