Seven Ways To Improve Electric Motor Assembly

Loctite claims there are at least seven ways adhesives can improve
assembly, service life and performance of electric motors. Adhesives
enable press-fit tolerances and surface finishes to be relaxed, meaning
parts cost less to produce. Trials by manufacturers of electric motors
have proved that slip-fitted cylindrical assemblies with relaxed
tolerances and rougher surface finishes secured by an engineering
adhesive, have a retained strength at least comparable to that of an
interference fit. Various adhesives can simplify and lower the cost of
manufacturing, and characteristics such as oil tolerance, heat
resistance, fast/slow cure, gap-filling and semi or fully automatic
application methods can be selected to suit production systems and motor
materials. Loctite says it can advise on all these issues.
