'Instant' adhesives combine best of UV and instant-cure technologies
Henkel Loctite has introduced two new light-curing adhesives, Loctite
4304 low viscosity and Loctite 4305 high viscosity, which are clear,
one-part, solvent-free systems. They offer a rapid cure when exposed to
UV light, while achieving an instant adhesive bond without heat or
prolonged curing period. The products have a fixture time of 30 to 45
seconds when used to bond steel, and just 5 to 10 seconds when bonding
ABS.
These new adhesives couple the rapid light cure of an acrylic adhesive
with a secondary cyanoacrylate cure, effectively combining the adhesion
and cure of standard instant adhesives with the depth of cure and surface
curing characteristics of UVs.
