Recently the NPL approached LG Motion with a requirement for an upgrade to the National Reference Reflectometer (NRR). There is an internationally agreed method for describing colour which mathematically combines the spectral reflectance, transmittance or emission data for the material or light source with the spectral visual efficiency of the human eye.
The NPL measures reflected colour using a calibrated spectrophotometer which compares the results with an NPL master white standard calibrated on the National Reference Reflectometer (NRR).
Rotary table application
The spectrophotometer evaluates the spectral reflectance of the measured surface, a process which is controlled by a motorised table designed and supplied by LG Motion.
The rotary table has 360° rotation capability and a stepper motor and the assembly is fitted with an incremental angle encoder, mounted on the moving top. A display for encoder readout from Heidenhain completes the system.
Rotary stage features
The rotary table delivers precise positioning via a 90:1 ratio worm wheel. A central aperture of 110mm allows for services and other connections to be made through the centre of the table giving added flexibility when designing experiments or processing with external services.
• Usable travel - 360°
• Positional repeatability - <0,02°
• Maximum load - 500kg, centrally mounted
• Rotary encoder - Type: ERO 785 – Inc’ 36000ppr / min.
• Home datum sensor - PNP normally open
• Motors - Stepper
