Compact power supplies with multiple outputs

XP Power has released its SDR250 series of compact 250W power supplies offering both single and dual outputs. The U channel version, measuring just 81.2 x 127.0 x 38.10mm (3.2 x 5 x 1.5 inches), has a power density of 10.4 Watts per cubic inch and requires only 16CFM of forced air cooling to achieve 250W output. Other mechanical formats include a U channel with vented cover and an enclosed, fan cooled model. Using convection cooling alone, the single output versions are rated up to 135W.

The series is ideal for a wide range of wireless, datacom and industrial applications. The unit can supply up to 600W peak power for short periods. Using this compact power supply in place of a larger higher rated unit, engineers can save space and budget.

The series offers 11 single output and 6 dual output models. Output voltages for the single output versions range from + 5 VDC to +60 VDC. Dual output units provide combinations of +3.3, +5, +12, +24 and +48 VDC. For both output models, output 1 can be trimmed +/- 5%.

The SDR250 series operates from 0 to +70ºC, with linear derating above +50ºC. All models comply with FCC Part 15 & EN550022 Level B standards for conducted emissions. No additional filtering components are required. The units also meet the industrial, commercial and IT equipment safety approvals specified by UL60950 & EN60950.

The power supply provides a Power Good signal for monitoring purposes, a remote on/off function is also provided.

Designers may specify either screw terminal or Molex connector options for added flexibility when considering how to connect to their devices.
