Docking connector for automatic engagement systems

Virginia Panel Corporation is extending its portfolio with four new automatic docking connectors.

Each of the connectors feature an engageless frame for use with automatic engagement systems and test handler equipment to mate test adapters. Automatic docking connectors reduce the time it takes to test and minimise operator interaction, making them an ideal solution for production or manufacturing environments.

A robust and dependable hybrid I/O interface, particularly suited to manufacturing and product test applications, the iDock Series offers reliable transmission options for signal, power, coax, fibre optic, and high speed data rates. The flexible, modular design of the iDock Series connectors allows the user to consolidate a variety of connection types into individual connector solutions.

The frame of the connector allows for up to 0.04in [1.016mm] of combined float, an alignment characteristic that extends the life of the product. Using locator bosses, module position tolerance is controlled in the receiver and ITA frame to ensure proper alignment without the excessive use of guide pins.

iDock Series frames can be repeatedly mated without all modules installed and with modules only partially populated.

The connectors are rated for 100,000 mating cycles and use standard VPC modules.
