Amplicon will provide free Ethernet switches to its customers in order to highlight the launch of a new range of Industrial Ethernet switches. As part of the promotion of the new “Amplicon Networking Essentials” (ANE) range, Amplicon is offering a free 5 or 8 port switch with every order for an industrial PC or storage server. This will allow customers to sample the new networking products at no extra cost. The switches will complement Amplicon’s existing industrial product portfolio.
The ANE range of affordable and high quality products has been developed with users of commercial Ethernet products in mind. Cost-sensitive markets such as Building Automation and IP CCTV will benefit from the new range along with the traditional Industrial Ethernet markets such as Factory Automation, Process Control and Transportation.
The ANE range has dual redundant 12 to 48Vdc power inputs so they can be powered directly from a convenient DC voltage supply and have an additional power source connected for increased reliability. Power is connected via screw terminal blocks, providing a far more secure connection than the DC jack typically used on commercial products.
DIN-rail and wall mount brackets are supplied along with the rugged metal enclosure of the switches, so that the products can be professionally installed in roadside / trackside cabinets, or screwed securely to a wall or panel. With a temperature range of -10 to +60°C as well as shock, vibration and freefall approvals, the products can withstand far harsher treatment and environments than their commercial counterparts.
David Evans, Data Communications Product Manager at Amplicon commented: “Many of our customers are surprised to find that they can buy an Industrial grade Ethernet switch with a wide operating temperature and shock, freefall and vibration approvals for only £50. At this price point, we plan to take a substantial share of the commercial switch market as well as winning business in Industrial applications.”
He continued, “Industrial products will always be more expensive than commercial solutions, but the benefits, in my opinion, make it worth the extra cost. The biggest challenge we now face as a company is to educate the IT market about these robust products!”
