SEW Eurodrive’s new modular DR asynchronous motor series meets current and future demands for minimum efficiency ratings. The units are available with optional rotors, and a new design of brake with a choice of two or three sizes for each motor. Brake motors with inverter control require less braking action and therefore less braking torque is required for energy efficient motors. The BE series brakes are mounted on a friction plate and are easily de-mounted.
Many tasks require only simple positioning and velocity detection and high-resolution encoders installed on the non-driven shaft end are often far too complex for this task. SEW has developed two fully integrated but affordable encoders for the DR motor that offer between one and 100 pulses per revolution. These are easily retrofitted and can now be mounted directly to the shaft and fan guard of larger 4-pole motors (7.5kW to 5kW). A simple rotation counter is due to be launched in the near future.
