Relay for high frequency signal switching applications

Panasonic Electric Works UK has announced the launch of the new RS relay for high frequency signal switching applications. The RS is targeted at the popular dc-3Ghz signal range but is now 60% smaller by volume compared to its predecessors - the RK & RE relays - at only 14 x 8.6 x 7mm (L x W x H).

Available in both 75Ω and 50Ω impedances, there is a choice available for audio, video and general use applications. Switching characteristics are very good at 1.4dB Max VSWR, an insertion loss of 0.3/0.35dB (75Ω/50Ω) and an isolation loss of 30/35dB (75Ω/50Ω), all based on 3GHz switching. Max power switching is an impressive 10W at 3GHz. The relay is also available in a quiet version, so that audible ‘clicks’ are kept to a minimum for sound sensitive applications. The quiet version is approx 10dB quieter than the standard.

The RS relay is available in both through hole and SMD package options. Coil operation can be in the form of monostable and single and twin latching coils in all the popular typical operating voltages from 3-24V dc, with standard power consumption of 200mW.

Typical applications for the RS relay include digital broadcast equipment like STB / tuners, and in the communications market for Antennae switching and other wireless applications.
