“Smarter” control panel design software

Following its highly successful preview at Hannover Fair, Wieland Electric has announced the UK launch of wieplan 3.0 - a powerful, yet easy-to-use, software tool for configuring DIN rail terminal block assemblies using Wieland components. It offers a faster and more efficient means of planning and creating control panels. wieplan 3.0 features a bi-directional interface with ePLAN CAE engineering software and service; and, by contributing the DIN rail terminal block assembly, closes a gap in the engineering chain.

The process for selecting the right terminal block and accessories, designing the DIN rail and optimising space and flexibility through to completing all the documentation and drawings, has traditionally made control panel planning a laborious process. It is not administered in Eplan but now, when the terminal connection points have been defined the user can simply export this assignment to wieplan where the control-panel-ready DIN rail can be configured. It enables design engineers to easily manage the product data and integrate Wieland components into their diagrams, create parts list using own or manufacturers numbers.

The new wieplan software works with a project structure and is intuitive to use. As the planner is guided step by step through each stage, the software provides search and filtering functions and there are plausibility checks to prevent mistakes. Once the completed terminal blocks with all data including terminal type, item number, accessories and identification are defined in wieplan they can be seamlessly transferred back to ePLAN.

Available in four languages, wieplan has high quality graphics and the components database is simply updated online.
