Feeding Instrument Data Into A Pc Running Any Program

In the past, even when it has been possible to feed instrument data into a PC, it has tended to be in a proprietary or difficult-to-use format. Ideally, the user wants to get these readings directly into software such as Excel, but it has involved tedious manual data entry. A new product from Adept Scientific provides a neat solution to this problem. SoftwareWedge, developed by the US company, TAL Technologies, allows data to be taken from just about any device that you can connect to a serial port and read it straight into the application, be it a spreadsheet, SPC package, database or even a laboratory information management system. No programming is required; you just select how you want the data to be collected, define the communications parameters, decide which data you want from the data string and then activate SoftwareWedge, which transfers the data goes straight into your application.
