Fortress has introduced two modular mechanical bolt interlocks for power
isolation applications, the BM bolt module and BMS stainless steel
version, in both single and multiple access lock configurations.
For a single module (BM1), with the key free the bolt is usually in the
extended position. To retract the bolt, the key must first be inserted
and trapped (the reverse sequence being available to order). The
operation of the key extends or withdraws the bolt, which can then be
used to engage with mechanical linkages such as levers or cams on
switchgear.
For up to ten multiple modules (BM1-10 or BMS 1-5), with the primary key
free the bolt is usually in the extended position. To retract the bolt,
the primary key must be inserted, turned and trapped in the primary lock,
and the secondary key turned and removed from the secondary lock. The
operation of the primary key extends or withdraws the bolt, which in turn
can be used to interface with mechanical linkages as before.
