The power range of the ABB general machinery drive has been extended to 22 kW. The drive is targeted at applications primarily found in food and beverage, material handling, textile, printing, rubber and plastic, as well as woodworking.

The ABB general machinery drives are now rated from 0.37 to 22 kW, 3-phase 400 V; 0.37 to 11 kW, 3-phase 230 V; and 0.37 to 2.2 kW, single phase 230 V. The dimensions for the smallest model is 202 x 70 x 161 mm and for the largest one, 202 x 260 x 169 mm (H x W x D).

The ABB general machinery drives advanced functionality includes, unpowered drive configuration, sequence programming and simple installation and integration.

The drive can be programmed with a special tool, FlashDrop, while still in its box. This feature saves time for OEMs, who can easily copy parameters between two drives or between a PC and a drive. No power connection to the drive is needed.

Sequence programming offers 8-state programming that enables the drive to carry out a specific action when a triggering condition is met.

A choice of two control panels is available, providing different levels of support according to requirements. The more advanced assistant control panel supports 19 languages, including Asian languages such as Japanese, Chinese and Korean. Drives that will be controlled remotely can be supplied without a control panel for the lowest cost.

The drive protects itself when power is connected to the motor terminals. The I/Os are protected against short-circuit. The drive is also protected against missing supply phases.

EMC filter for 2nd environment, complying with IEC 61800-3, is built in. Plug-in fieldbus modules bring connectivity to major automation systems. The range is optimized for use alongside ABB’s high performance machinery drives.
