According to Fortress Interlocks, its new Category 4 (EN954-1) eGard system, can be installed on machine guarding installations in minutes , saving on installation time and offering a cost-effective alternative to more conventional gate switches and controls.The modular eGard system combines both access and control technologies in one unit that mounts directly on extruded aluminium profiles without need for additional brackets. It simply clicks together to form any required combination of modules - combinations that can just as easily be altered to accommodate new machine operations or changes to safety regulations.The internal network is self-configuring, while 'quick-disconnects' allow easy electrical installation and disconnection. The system can be hard-wired to a PLC or networked via the AS-i protocol.
